As with previous year’s we’re opening up applications to perform at Beyond The Woods 2020.
In the past some of our favourite performances have come from artists who applied to play the festival, and we’re really looking forward to listening to what will undoubtedly be another year of very high-quality applications.
We regularly receive hundreds of applications to perform, and so we hoped we’d take this opportunity to let you know how the process will work, and what we’ll do with the information you submit to us.
When we refer to ‘you’, ‘your’, ‘artists’, ‘the artist’ or ‘applicants’, we’re referring to people who have submitted applications to perform at Beyond The Woods 2020.
When we’re talking about ‘us’, ‘we’, ‘our’, ‘Beyond The Woods’ or ‘The Festival’, we’re referring to Beyond The Woods Ltd, which is the company we’ve set up to run Beyond The Woods Festival.
We might update these terms periodically. By submitting your application you agree to our Artist Application Terms & Conditions, including any changes we might subsequently make after you have submitted your application.
Applications to perform at The Festival can be submitted via the designated page on our website - https://beyondthewoods.co.uk/apply-to-play.
As we receive so many applications to perform at Beyond The Woods, and to be fair to everyone who applies, we will only accept applications submitted through the above page. Applications sent to us through other means, for example over email or via social media, will sadly not be considered.
Applications are scheduled to close at 23:59 on 31st May 2020; however, we might choose to close applications at an earlier date (and without notice) if we feel we are unable to accommodate any further performances. We will not be able to consider any applications submitted after applications have closed. We’d encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible.
Artists who apply to perform must belong to one of the following categories:
You may only submit one application per artist, and multiple applications for the same artist will not be considered. You may, however, submit multiple applications, each for different artists. For instance, two members of a band may not submit an application each for that same band; however, you may submit one application each for two separate bands.
While we welcome applications from artists anywhere in the world, if you are applying from outside the uk you should be aware that you will be responsible for demonstrating that you have the right to work in the UK on the date(s) of your performance.
In order to contact you about your application, and to better understand what your performance might add to this year’s event, we’ll ask you for the following information:
We may keep your information for up to one year following the date on which it was submitted to us, although we may also choose to securely remove it from our systems before then.
Your information will be made available to the festival staff responsible for booking the musical entertainment at Beyond The Woods through a secure, password-protected website.
We may also choose to consult external third parties on your application, where we feel it is appropriate. For example, if you have played at another festival this year we might contact that festival to ask how your performance went. This may involve sharing some or all of the information you have provided to us.
We might pass on some details from your application to our friends in the music industry, for example gig promoters or other festivals, who we think might be interested in hearing your music.
Once you have submitted your application to us, we will send you a confirmation, via email, that we have received it.
Once we’ve received your application, it will be looked at by one of the Beyond The Woods music team. Our music team may decide to make you an offer to perform at the festival, they may decide not to make an immediate decision on your application or, unfortunately, they may decide that your application isn’t quite what we’re looking for on this occasion.
There are no strict criteria we’ll use to assess your application, and whether you are successful could depend on a large number of factors. Primarily, we will assess the quality of your music and/or performance, but we will also make other considerations, such as whether your music is appropriate for a Beyond The Woods audience, how practical it might be to stage your performance, and our own progress in our commitment to supporting Lincolnshire-based artists and an even gender balance on our line-up.
There is no fixed timetable for making offers to artists, and we do not rule out the possibility that our line up will reach capacity before applications to perform are scheduled to close.
Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee you the opportunity to perform at Beyond The Woods. Equally, by submitting an application you are not committed to perform at the festival, and are of course within your rights to decline any offer to perform that we might make.
If we do make you an offer to perform at the festival, we will invite you to agree to a performance agreement. The terms of your performance will be governed by that performance agreement, rather than these terms and conditions.
Because of the sheer volume of applications we receive, it is the festival’s policy not to provide updates and/or feedback on individual applications. Whilst we’d love to let you know how your application is getting on, it would simply take up too much of our volunteers’ time to do this for each of the several hundred applications which will be submitted this year.
