Useful Information

How to get here, and answers to your frequently asked questions.

Getting To The Festival

We're very lucky to be able to hold the festival in the stunning surroundings of Stourton Woods, part of Stourton Estates, near Horncastle in Lincolnshire.

The festival is fairly straightforward to get to, but it's very easy to end up at the wrong entrance to the estate if you don't know where you're going.

Here are some handy instructions on getting to Beyond The Woods:

By Car

Stourton Woods is situated on the A158, mid-way between the village of Wragby and the town of Horncastle. It's a little under 30 minutes' drive from the city of Lincoln. There are several entrances, but the entrance you're looking for, Clays Lane, will be very clearly signposted.

As you approach the festival site, please remember to keep an eye out for the signs, rather than follow your sat nav, as most sat nav systems will try and take you to the wrong entrance.

By Bus

Getting to the festival by bus is quite tricky, as there is no footpath between the festival site and the nearest bus stop, which is a decent walk along a very busy A road.

If you are going to take the bus, we'd very strongly advise getting a lift between the bus stop and the festival site. Please don't attempt the journey by foot.

By Train

Lincoln train station is very easily accessible from across the country, with regular direct train services from London Kings X, and northern connections via Newark North Gate.

Once you arrive in Lincoln, we'd advise arranging a lift between the station and the festival site. There are plenty of Lincoln-based taxi services who will be able to take a group of you to and from the festival site for a reasonable sum.

Which gate do I go to?

There is only one entrance to the site for festival traffic, but once you're on site there are four different gates - red, blue, yellow and green.

  • Most people attending the festival should park in the Red Car Park, and enter the site via the Red Gate
  • If you are staying in the Green Campsite, for families, caravans /campervans and quiet camping, you should drive directly to the Green Gate, which is accessible via the Yellow Gate

All FAQs

+

How much will tickets cost?

Our cheapest adult tickets will cost £35, with our most expensive tickets costing £60.

There will also be discounted tickets for under 16s and under 12s, while under 5s tickets are free

Ticket prices will increase the closer we get to the festival, so make sure you buy early to get your ticket at the cheapest possible price.

+

Will day tickets be available?

Once again, we will be selling day tickets for Saturday but not Friday. Prices for Saturday tickets will be confirmed shortly

+

I'm bringing an under 5, do they need a ticket?

Although under 5s come to the festival for free, they will still need a (free) ticket.

Attendance at this year's festival is limited (by law) to 1,999 people, and so in order to ensure that we're not over-capacity, we do ask that you obtain a ticket for your child.

+

Are there limits to the number of under 16s' and under 12s' tickets?

There is no limit to the number of children who may come to the festival; however, as we are only a small, volunteer-run event, there is a limit to the number of discounted tickets that we can afford to put on sale.

The money we make from ticket sales has to pay to put on the event, and so while we do try our best to make as many reduced-price tickets available for children as possible, unfortunately we can't afford to sell too many without putting up the price of everyone else's ticket.

Of course, we're reviewing this situation year-on-year, and our hope is to reach a scenario where there is no limit to the number of reduced-price tickets we can put on sale.

We have sold out of children's tickets in previous years, and would strongly recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

+

Are tickets refundable?

Tickets to Beyond The Woods are non-refundable. There will be an opportunity for people who have tickets they can no longer use to sell them on through official BTW resale channels in the near future.

+

What help is available for disabled attendees?

We'd like for anybody to be able to attend Beyond The Woods, and so if you have any particular requirements please let us know as soon as possible so we can discuss how we can help.

We're pleased to be able to offer a free carer's ticket to attendees with a disability. Again - please contact us for further information.

Do 'weekend camping' tickets include access to the festival?

Yes they do! The only tickets which do not include festival access are Glamping and Green Camping tickets, and associated upgrades.

+

Can anybody camp in the Green Campsite?

Anyone is welcome to camp in our Green Campsite, for families and quiet camping. In fact, it's the only campsite where you can park a campervan or caravan.

You don't have to be a family group, but we do ask that campers keep things reasonably low-key, and there is a noise curfew of 23:00. Green Camping is, unfortunately, not a party campsite.

Campers should be aware that, as a quiet campsite, Green Camping is a short (5-10 minutes) walk from The Arena. The walk is flat, and so accessible to Wheelchair users. Like much of the festival, a lot of the route between Green Camping and The Arena takes place on grass.

Pitches in the Green Campsite are strictly limited, and historically have sold out well in advance of the festival. We'd advise booking early to avoid disappointment.

+

Can I bring a campervan or caravan to Beyond The Woods?

Campervans and caravans are welcome at the festival; however, they are only permitted in our Green Campsite for families, quiet camping and live-in vehicles, for which a separate pass is required.

As we have a limited number of spaces for campervans and caravans, we'd strongly advise booking your pass as soon as they come on sale.

+

Campers in the Green Campsite and Arboretum (glamping) will have access to showers; however, there are no showers in the Red Campsite - our main public campsite.

+

What is the festival's policy on glass?

For 50 weeks of the year, Stourton Woods is home to a herd of deer, and broken glass could be potentially fatal were it accidentally eaten by one of the site's regular residents.

For that reason, glass bottles and containers of any description are unfortunately not allowed at Beyond The Woods.

+

Are pets permitted on site?

Unfortunately, the only animals permitted on site are assistance animals, such as guide dogs.

+

What time do gates open and close?

Gates will open at 1pm on Friday.

Gates will remain open until midday on Sunday; however, wristbands will only be issued at certain times:

  • 1pm Friday - 9pm Friday
  • 10am Saturday - 6pm Saturday

Outside of these times, you will only be able to access the festival if you have already collected your wristband. We will be unable to issue you with a wristband after 6pm on Saturday, so please ensure that you have arrived on site in plenty of time.

Additionally, you will not be able to bring any bags onto site from the car park between 23:00 - 08:00.

+

Will there be any performances on the Sunday?

At the moment we have no plans to stage any performances on the Sunday - gates will remain open until midday to allow people camping over from Saturday to leave in a leisurely fashion.
